SUPPORT PROBLEM: Troubleshoot installing Intellipoint, IntelliType, or LifeCam software

When you try to install Microsoft IntelliPoint, Microsoft IntelliType Pro, or Microsoft LifeCam programs, you receive one of the following error messages:

Setup cannot continue because either there is insufficient disk space or an unexpected error has occurred. Please free the necessary disk space, and run setup again. For system requirements, refer to the product packaging.Error 1603: A fatal error occurred during installation. Installation error.To resolve this problem, follow these steps in the order in which they are presented. You must be logged on to your computer as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group. Note: This issue may occur if you have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. If you have upgraded and none of the steps in this article resolves the issue, you may need to reinstall Windows 7. .Method 1: Remove earlier versions of the program, and then install the latest version

Step 1: Remove the program from Control Panel

Click Start, and then click Run.On a computer that is running Windows XP, copy and then paste (or type) the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER: appwiz.cpl

If an existing version of the program is listed, click the program entry, and then click Remove. Follow the instructions to remove the software.
If you are prompted, restart the computer.
Step 2: Download and install the latest programs or drivers for your hardware device

Note Before you install the latest software, make sure that other programs are closed. When you perform a clean startup before you start the installation, you prevent these programs from starting automatically.
