SUPPORT SOLUTION:
When you try to create a voice-recorded message, the message is not recorded.Identical names are listed in the record devices list..This problem may occur if there are multiple recording devices that are installed on your computer that have the same name.By default, Games for Windows – LIVE will select the first recording device that is listed by the operating system as the primary recording device. If this recording device is not the default system recording device, voice recording of messages may not work..Windows Vista

Method 1: Set the default recording device in the Sound properties

Click StartCollapse this imageExpand this image.Click Control Panel.Double-click the Sound item.Select the Recording tab.Select a microphone that has a status of Working.Click Set Default.Click OK.Method 2: Disable one of the duplicate sound devices through Device Manager

Click StartCollapse this imageExpand this image, and then type devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box.Double-click devmgmt.msc to open Device Manager.Expand Sound, video and game controllers in the list, and then look for duplicate device names.Select one of the duplicate entries.Right-click that entry, and then click Disable.If you are prompted, restart your computer. Note If you no longer hear audio after you disable one of the sound devices, follow the steps in Method 2 to re-enable the disabled audio device.IMPORTANT After a duplicate device is disabled, the duplicate device will no longer be listed in the record device list under Voice Options.Method 3: Remove duplicate sound devices from Device Manager
