SUPPORT SOLUTION:
When trying to send or receive email in Entourage for Mac 2008 you may receive the following error message: The server for account <Name of the Account> returned the error “Logon failure: Unknown user name or bad password. Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?”.To resolve the issue, following these steps: Test recieving before sending. If this does not work, please try the following troubleshoting steps. .Step 1: Verify that you can connect on the web

First, test to see whether you can sign in by using the web-based application. For example, if you have a Gmail account, visit gmail.com, and then sign in.  If you can sign in, go to the next step. If you cannot sign in, contact your email client provider to obtain the correct user name and password.  .Step 2: Re-enter your user name and password

Open Entourage. On the Tools menu, click Accounts. Open your email account. Enter the correct email address and the password. Verify that the listed “Incoming server” and “Outgoing server” are correct. Click the red button in the upper-left corner of the window to close the window.If the account settings are correct, proceed to the next step. .Step 3: Create a new user account

Sometimes, a user’s specific information may be corrupted which can cause problems with applications starting, installing, or using.
