RAPID PUBLISHING ARTICLES PROVIDE INFORMATION DIRECTLY FROM WITHIN THE MICROSOFT SUPPORT ORGANIZATION. THE INFORMATION CONTAINED HEREIN IS CREATED IN RESPONSE TO EMERGING OR UNIQUE TOPICS, OR IS INTENDED SUPPLEMENT OTHER KNOWLEDGE BASE INFORMATION..After applying KB 960715 to a Windows 2000 server running Windows Media Services 4.1 you are unable to use the Windows Media Administor to configure the service.
.KB 960715 killbits the MSFlxGrd.ocx for security reasons. The Windows Media Administrator uses this control to list the publishing points that have been configured.
.While it is possible to remove the killbit registry key as documented in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240797
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240797)
, it is best to get the updated flex grid control. Contact Microsoft to obtain this as well as the updated admin.lpk file. Updating msflxgrd.ocx alone will not resolve the issue.
.For non-Windows Media Administrator issues, the updated flex grid control can be obtained from the Visual Basic 6 Service Pack 6.
The flex grid control uses the CLASSID: 6262D3A0-531B-11CF-91F6-C2863C385E30.
