Make sure that Timeslips, TAL, and CA Simply Accounting are all installed before
following these steps.

In Timeslips, use the Setup; Accounting Link command to select CA Simply Accounting for
DOS v3.2 - v3.4 (Canada) from the Linked accounting program field. The Accounting Program
Setup wizard will step you through the linking process.

Create or modify the chart of accounts in CA Simply Accounting. Export the chart of
accounts; this must be done each time you modify the chart of accounts.

In Timeslips, use the Setup; Accounting Link command and the Path to Chart of Accounts
field to locate the specific GLCOAT general ledger file for each company used in CA Simply
Accounting. A separate Timeslips database must be set up to link the accounts for each
company used in CA Simply Accounting.

Then use the Setup; G/L Accounts command and select the appropriate account numbers for
the account types listed in the chart of accounts.

After approving your bills in Timeslips, print and mark for transfer the TAL Transfer
Register report. CA Simply Accounting will then import the information from the transfer
register file.

Setup

TAL requires that you establish accounts in two different places: first in CA
Simply Accounting as Detail (Posting) accounts, and then in Timeslips. You can use the CA
Simply Accounting recommendations along with the suggestions below to set up your account
numbers and levels.

You can substitute your own numbers, or you can use or modify any existing TAL accounts
already set up in CA Simply Accounting. You may not need to use all the suggested
accounts—you can skip any you do not need, such as individual accounts for fees and
costs. Naming each account “TAL…” is not required, but makes them easy to find
in the chart of accounts.

These general suggestions work for most applications, but cannot possibly apply to all
state and provincial laws or accounting strategies. Be sure to consult your accountant if
you have any questions or difficulties with these suggestions.
