How to configure Outpost Firewall Pro to allow Simply Accounting to run over your network
This document provides the steps needed to allow Simply Accounting to be installed and run when Outpost Firewall Pro is installed.I. Allowing access to the Simply data files over the networkII. Manually adding Simply Accounting as a trusted applicationIII. Granting access to the Simply files so the computers can communicate in multi user mode I. Allowing access to the Simply data files over the networkYou will be prompted with some messages that require you to allow access to Simply Accounting so that the program can communicate with the computer that stores your data. Please follow the steps below to do so.Start Simply Accounting.When prompted with the Create rule dialog for SIMPLYACCOUTNING.EXE, select Allow all activities for this application and click OK.When prompted with the Hidden Process Request Network Access message for MYSQLD-NT.EXE, select Allow network activity for this process according to application rules and check the Allow SIMPLYACCOUNTINGCONNECTIONMANAGER.EXE to start any hidden process checkbox. Click OK.In the Hidden Process Request Network Access message for MYSQLADMIN.EXE, select Allow network activity for this process according to application rules and check the Allow SIMPLYACCOUNTINGCONNECTIONMANAGER.EXE to start any hidden process checkbox. Click OK.In the Warning: Components Have Changed message, select Update information for changed components and click OK.Repeat Step 5 for all Warning: Components Have Changed messages referring to Simply Accounting.The Hidden Process Request Network Access messages will also appear on the computer that has the company files stored on it. Repeat Step 3 for the following files:MYSQL-NT.EXEMYSQLADMIN.EXEIf this is the first time you are opening Simply Accounting, you may be prompted with a Create rule for SIMPLYACCOUNTING_CONV150.EXE message. If so, select Allow all activities for this application and click OK.Simply Accounting will now be able to run on your computer. II. Manually adding Simply Accounting as a trusted application for Outpost Firewall ProSimply Accounting can be added to Outpost trusted application list. Follow the steps below on all computers that access Simply Accounting to do so.Right-click the Outpost icon in the system tray, near the clock. Select Show.Click Options, Application.Confirm that SIMPLYACCOUNTING.EXE is listed under Trusted Applications. If not, click Add and browse to the following location: C:\Program Files\Simply Accounting 2008\SIMPLYACCOUNTING.EXE.Click OK to close the Options window. III. Granting access to the Simply files so the computers can communicate in multi user modeThese steps should be done on the computer on which your Simply Accounting company files stored.Right-click the Outpost icon in the system tray, near the clock. Select Show.Click Options, System.Click Settings in the LAN Settings section.Click Add and type the IP address of the computers that will be accessing the Simply Accounting files.Once you have added the IP address, click OK.Check the NetBIOS and Trusted checkboxes and click OK.Close all firewall windows and start Simply Accounting on the computers.
