Host Integration Server 2004: FIX: The Netview log on an IBM mainframe logs RTP path switches every 60 seconds when the IP-DLC link service is configured to use VRN in a Host Integration Server 2004 environment

SUPPORT PROBLEM: FIX: The Netview log on an IBM mainframe logs RTP path switches every 60 seconds when the IP-DLC link service is configured to use VRN in a Host Integration Server 2004 environment

SUPPORT SOLUTION:
In a
Microsoft Host Integration Server 2004 environment,
you enable
the Virtual Routing Node (VRN) functionality
for the IP-DLC link service. In this case, the Rapid

Transport Protocol (RTP) pipe
that carries the Dependent
Logical Unit Server - Dependent Logical Unit Requestor (DLUS-DLUR)
pipes
is dropped every 60 seconds.
Then, the IP-DLC link service reestablishes the RTP pipe over a new path. Additionally, path-switch messages are logged in the Netview log on the IBM mainframe every 60 seconds. This
issue occurs when the RTP pipe is carried over a
single-hop VRN link..This problem occurs because the VRN link
is treated as a
limited resource.
Additionally,
the single-hop route is optimized to not send keep-alive messages.
Therefore, Host
Integration
Server
2004 closes the VRN link
on a 60 second timer. Host
Integration
Server
2004 then
reestablishes
the VRN link
and path switches to the new link without
losing data..Hotfix information
