SUPPORT SOLUTION:
This article describes how to import existing medical data into HealthVault..HealthVault users who want to import existing medical data to HealthVault have several options:

If you have a copy of the data, then you can enter it manually in HealthVault. To do this, sign in at HealthVault.com and, when you are signed in, click the Health Information tab for the person whose data you want to enter. Manual data entry is not supported for all data types at this time. For users who want to enter large volumes of health data, this option will be laborious and time-consuming.

There are several third-party applications that can help users get existing data into HealthVault. HealthVault does not recommend specific applications, but interested users can see a directory of HealthVault-compatible applications at http://www.healthvault.com/personal/websites.html?type=application.

If your healthcare provider has an electronic medical record (EMR) system that connects to HealthVault, the provider may be able to add the data directly. Not all doctors have EMR systems, though, and those who do often have systems that can’t talk to HealthVault yet.

Users can import medical information directly into their HealthVault record if their healthcare provider can provide an electronic copy of the information in either of two health information electronic formats that are supported by a wide variety of medical systems:

Continuity of Care Document (CCD)
Continuity of Care Record (CCR)
Some clinical systems are able to export information in one or both of these formats and deliver it either electronically (for example, by e-mail) or on physical media (for example, on a CD or DVD). If your healthcare provider can do this, and if you can get the CCD or CCR document onto your computer, you can import it into HealthVault:

If you receive a CD or DVD, put it in your PC.
Start your Web browser, go to http://account.healthvault.com and then sign in.
When you are signed in, click the Upload a file link on the home page. This will open a window.
Click Browse… and locate the CCD or CCR file on your computer. Click Open.
If you want, you can enter a brief description of the file you are about to upload.
Click Upload file. Your file will be uploaded to HealthVault.
This will take you to a page listing the CCD or CCR file you just uploaded. Click on the file name to view the contents of the file.
If you follow the steps above, you will be able to view the information in HealthVault, but you won’t be able to use it on other Web sites or programs that can use HealthVault information. That’s because the information is still inside the file you uploaded. To add it directly to HealthVault, take these additional steps:

On the page listing your CCD or CCR, click Add items.
On the next page, click Choose items to add.
This will show a list of all the items you can add to HealthVault from the CCD or CCR. Review the items and decide if there are any you don’t want to upload. If so, on the Add to record? menu, click Don’t add this.
When you’ve decided which items you want to add, click Save changes to record.
This will add the items to your HealthVault record and will take you to a page listing the items you added.
If your healthcare provider can’t provide information in CCD or CCR format, there may not be an easy way for you to import it into HealthVault yet. HealthVault is constantly working with healthcare providers and information systems to offer more options for adding information to HealthVault, and we hope to be able to offer users more alternatives in the future..Note This is a “FAST PUBLISH” article created directly from within the Microsoft support organization.
