SUPPORT SOLUTION:
If a Groove Relay server fails, communications that use that Relay server may be unable to reach their destinations.In Microsoft Office Groove 2007 and earlier versions of Groove, the following functions may use a Groove Relay server:Synchronization of all workspaces Messages and invitationsAwareness In Microsoft SharePoint Workspace 2010, updates to SharePoint workspaces are communicated directly to the SharePoint server. These updates never use a Groove Relay server. However, the following functions may still use a Groove Relay server: Synchronization of shared foldersSynchronization of Groove workspacesMember messages and invitationsAwareness This issue occurs because Groove messages and workspace updates may rely on the Groove Relay server to reach certain destinations. In this situation, Groove messages and workspace updates are stored locally and delivered after the Groove Relay server comes back online.Note Communications issues may occur for other reasons than Groove Relay failure, such as general network issues, changes to a firewall in the communication path, or local configuration issues. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
If you use a Groove Relay server that is administered by your organization, contact your organization’s help desk.If you use a Groove Relay server that is administered by Microsoft, use one or more of the following methods: To determine whether there is a known server outage, check for an announcement in the Groove Server forum.
