You are attempting a mail merge and have included a contact with a title or suffix. For example, John E. Doe, SHA. In the mail merge, the name displays as “Doe SHA John.E.”
This issue may occur if the suffix or title is not registered with your ACT! database. Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:Click the Tools menu, and then click Preferences. The Preferences dialog box appears. Under the General tab, click the Name Preferences button. The Name Preferences dialog box appears. Enable the appropriate Name prefixes and suffixes option. (Last name suffixes in our example), and then click the Add button. The Name Prefix/Suffix dialog box appears. Enter the prefix or suffix, and then click OK. Your suffix (or prefix) is added to the list.Click OK, to close the Name Preferences dialog box, and click OK again to close the Preferences dialog box.Note: If only one record includes this prefix or suffix, follow these steps to adjust the Name preferences.Click the browse button at the Contact field. The Contact Name dialog box appears. Click into each field: First name, Middle name and Last name to ensure that the program recognizes this name correctly, and then click OK.
