ACT! will launch but you are unable to open your database.
This issue can result if the TCP/IP, Named Pipes or shared memory protocols are not enabled in the SQL Server Client Network Utility.If you are able to launch ACT!, but not open your database, use the following steps to ensure that these protocols are enabled: Click the Windows Start button, then click Run. The Run dialog box appears.Type cliconfg into the Open field, and then click OK. The SQL Server Client Network Utility dialog box appears:Ensure that theEnable shared memory protocol box is enabled.Ensure that TCP/IP and Named Pipes are listed in the Enabled protocols by order pane.Click Apply, and then click OK to close.Restart your computer to complete the changes.For more information on this issue, please refer to the following Knowledge Base document:Title: Error: “Could not access the specified database”Answer ID: 14148
