You establish a link between ACT! and QuickBooks, and now would like to change the Access Rights without severing the link.

In a multi-user situation with ACT! 2006, QuickBooks and ACT! Link for use with QuickBooks 2006 installed on all the machines, you MUST be logged into QuickBooks on each machine locally as Administrative user in order to setup the link. Once the link is established, you can then log back into QuickBooks as a user with less then administrative privileges and use the link accordingly.

Use the following steps to adjust the Access Rights between ACT! and QuickBooks:

Close ACT! and launch QuickBooks to the desired company.
Click the Edit menu, and then click Preferences. The Preferences dialog box appears:

Click Integrated Applications from the left navigation menu. The Integrated Applications dialog box appears.
Under the Company Preferences tab click ACT! form the Application Name column, and then click Properties. The Access Rights tab appears:

If you would like to allow ACT! access that requires you to login each time; enable the Allow this application to read and modify this company file and the Prompt before allowing access options.

If you would like to allow ACT! access whenever this QuickBooks company is open; enable the Allow this application to read and modify this company file option.

If you would like to allow ACT! access without opening QuickBooks; enable both the Allow this application to read and modify this company file and the Allow this application to login automatically options.

If you would like to NOT allow ACT! access to this QuickBooks company, ensure that all no options are enabled.

After making needed changes, click OK to close the Access Rights tab, and then click OK to close the Preferences dialog box.
